It is safe to say Conor Coventry has had a pretty good start to the season, having got his second appearance for West Ham United’s first-team against Newport County, following that up with his Republic of Ireland U21s debut.
The young Hammer played the entirety of the game, as the boys in green ran out 1-0 winners against Armenia U21s.
There were many who were impressed with the 19-year-old’s performance, according to ExWHUEmployee:
Ireland under 21s got a 1-0 win today with @conorcoventry apparently one of the stand out players

Coventry has been touted as Glenn Whelan’s long-term replacement in the Ireland squad by The Times, but there are some West Ham supporters who would like to change that.
With Declan Rice having changed his national allegiances from Republic of Ireland to England, some Hammers are wondering whether Coventry could do the same.
ExWHUEmployee has confirmed that is a possibility for the West Ham teenager if England want him, but he doesn’t believe that he will make the change.
A selection of Twitter reaction to the performance, including posts from speculative West Ham fans, can be seen below:
Plz tell em he’s not going to change I can’t have this declan rice situation thinking we might actually have a West Ham Ireland player
