The Hammers are in the Transfer Tavern tonight and they are drinking to celebrate following rumours linking a highly rated midfielder with their club.
Reports from the Telegraph have revealed that West Ham have offered a club record £27.1 million to bring highly rated Portuguese midfielder, William Carvalho to the London Stadium.
The reports say that Carvalho is keen on a move to the Premier League however given that the likes of Manchester United and Arsenal were once interested in his services, this may seem like a bit of a step-down.
Despite how the move would feel for the player, for the club it would be huge.
Carvalho is one of the highest rated talents in Portugal right now and to bring him to West Ham in a transfer window that has already seen some great signings would be a huge boost to the club.
Slaven Bilic has been working hard all summer to reshape his side after a disappointing 11th place league finish last season.
The 25-year-old’s defensive work would give players like Mark Noble plenty of freedom to push forward more because, with his work rate, he can be the rock in front of the defence all by himself.
At his age he has his best years ahead of him and whilst the Hammers may have to spend a bit more than £27 million, his contribution to the side would be priceless.
