West Ham won’t be making managerial change anytime soon

West Ham fans in the Transfer Tavern are disappointed with their side’s start to the season but they’re hopeful things will improve.

The Hammers travel to Newcastle United this weekend under immense pressure following two consecutive defeats to start the new Premier League season and questions have been raised about the East London side yet again.

Speculation this week has suggested that Slaven Bilic could be relieved of his duties but TalkSport have stated that’s not true, with a source close to the club stating the reports are ‘total rubbish’.

West Ham’s board explored the possibility of moving in a new direction at the end of last season, following a disastrous first campaign at the London Stadium which saw the club flirt with relegation, but elected to keep faith with their Croatian boss.

However, Bilic’s current deal expires at the end of this season and it seems extremely likely that he has a long-term future at the club- but talk this soon seems premature.

Landlord’s Verdict

Be it now or be it in five months time, it’s pretty clear that Slaven Bilic’s future at West Ham is intangible. His spell in East London is a ticking time bomb and it’s only a matter of time before the explosion, which will be more deadly the longer the club wait.

West Ham should have made the decision to move away from Bilic at the end of last season and making the mistake to keep faith now would be detrimental. If he was to leave in the international break, they’d be plenty of time for a replacement to get settled in. Any later than that and things become problematic.

The issue for West Ham is that they seem to have set their sights on the moon without a plan on how to get there. One by one, issues will continue to rise and it’s going to take a major alteration for them to achieve the landing they’re aspiring for.
