West Ham’s best possible XI under Manuel Pellegrini

West Ham’s best possible XI under Manuel Pellegrini

West Ham United have kicked off their Premier League campaign in the worst possible way as Manuel Pellegrini desperately needs to turn things round.

The Hammers find themselves in a spot of bother having made a poor start to their Premier League season, with a possible relegation battle on their hands if they don’t improve. Manuel Pellegrini is still struggling to identify his strongest starting XI as results just haven’t gone the way of the London club.

So, it’s important that the Chilean can find the winning formula, but he may need a lot of luck to do so as injuries can impact his match selection.

Therefore, in an ideal world where West Ham United have a fully fit squad with no injuries or suspensions to speak of, here’s an idea of what Pellegrini’s strongest XI would look like…

WEST HAM UNITED’S STRONGEST POSSIBLE XI

We’ve gone with a 4-2-3-1 formation, as that is the formation that will get the best out of the Hammers’ dangerous attacking three, while the midfielder pairing will keep possession well and protect the defence.

Indeed, summer signing Fabian Balbuena and Angelo Ogbonna haven’t enjoyed the rub of the green so far this season, but they are two dominant defenders that can ensure solidity on their day. Also, another summer signing Ryan Fredericks will be preferred on the right-hand side due to his pace, with Aaron Cresswell lining up on the other side as he looks to pump quality deliveries into the box.

In midfield, the likes of Jack Wilshere and Mark Noble would form the heart of the midfield as two of the more experienced Premier League players in the side. The attacking three would consist of club record signing Felipe Anderson, another summer signing Andriy Yarmolenko and the injured Manuel Lanzini. Indeed, the Brazilian has already displayed moments of class and Yarmolenko’s pace could cause trouble, with Lanzini always guaranteed a starting place in the side when he’s fit and ready.

Lastly, the versatile Marko Arnautovic would lead the line for the Hammers as a strong, determined forward that knows how to find the back of the net.
