The West Ham United fans in the Transfer Tavern just want to enjoy life under Slaven Bilic again.
Indeed, our east London locals have a great amount of affection for their boss, who also represented the club as a player, though are increasingly losing confidence that he can turn things around at the London Stadium.
So, as upsetting as that is, reports from the Daily Mail have at least taken their collective minds off all things Bilic.
They claim the club could yet offer Diafra Sakho a new deal in the capital, despite the Senegalese pushing for a move away towards the end of the summer transfer window.
It’s thought that the 27-year-old was keen on a move to Rennes and is believed to have pushed for it, though a move to France ultimately failed to materialise. With that in mind, the Mail’s report has come as somewhat of a surprise.
The club are reported to have told the forward that they will extend his stay on fresh terms should he keep up the type of form that has seen him bag three goals in his last three games for club and country, including a vital winner over Swansea City before the international break.
A happy Diafra Sakho can only be a good thing for the Hammers. Along with Javier Hernande and Andy Carroll, the Senegal international offers West Ham a wonderfully varied frontline, though it’s hugely important he’s played in the right way.
