Weston McKennie: West Ham United should look to add USA maestro right away - Premier League

West Ham have had the worst start of all to their Premier League campaign and without any points, doubt and fears for the long season ahead are starting to creep in.

Manuel Pellegrini was brought in to bring the glory days back to West Ham but so far they look a far inferior team to the one managed by David Moyes just months ago. That doesn’t make good reading for anyone involved with the club but the fact is that is true thus far as the new signings just haven’t clicked yet.

Many have faith that it will eventually work out and the Hammers can at least challenge for a top 10 position but added help maybe needed by a young, energetic midfielder like Schalke’s Weston McKennie – who is valued at £5.8 million on Transfermarkt.

The 20-year-old USA international promises to take the footballing world by storm and right now that seems to be exactly the lift West Ham need. They need a spark from somewhere and especially in midfield, where old tired players are constantly second best to opponents.

As a holding midfielder, McKennie has featured in every single minute this season as he aims to better 22 Bundesliga appearances that he earned last season.

McKennie describes himself as a player that wins the ball and looks to play it, although that may sound simple to some like many youngsters could do, West Ham don’t have a ball carrier that can break up play and set their team away on an attack.

Their midfield is too lethargic and McKennie would be the ideal player to come in and freshen up West Ham as they bid to revive their season before it’s too late.
