When looking at the bigger picture, it would not be unfair to say West Ham United have significantly improved in recent years and Manuel Pellegrini has been the best manager at the club for a long period of time, right?

However, it does not appear everyone at the London Stadium is quite convinced with what he has managed to achieve so far and could be looking to make a change in the summer after just 12 months or so in the job.

According to RMC Sport in France, West Ham are already considering to replace him with Bruno Genesio, should the current Olympique de Lyonnais boss be made available with his future at the Ligue One outfit currently in doubt.

And, that decision, should David Gold and David Sullivan look to make it, can only be seen as ludicrous, absurd and ridiculous (and any other adjective you want to throw in there!).

Sure, the Chilean has had his moments as his team have looked far from good at times throughout the campaign, however, the Hammers are a side that has been fighting bravely against relegation at this point in previous seasons.

Pellegrini's first year in charge was always going to be difficult and unpredictable as he set about trying to take West Ham to the next level and showing that the club has the lofty ambitions that they have been void of over the years.

A number of players arrived in the summer after a massive overhaul of the squad he inherited and the majority of them appear to have settled into life in the capital and do not look out of place - as can be the case when trying to adapt to the English game.

He has brought an attacking style of play to the side (although it does go missing in some matches) which has freshened things up for onlookers and made the club an attractive option for players to join - just look at the likes of Felipe Anderson and Andriy Yarmolenko.

And, would sacking Pellegrini for Genesio really be worthwhile something that benefits West Ham in the future?

Obviously, it would be hard to say at this point, however, the Lyon boss has only managed his current club, whilst Pellegrini has plenty of experience of being a winning manager in the Premier League.

Admittedly, he had a rather poor and slow start that would have left many questioning whether or not he is the man to try and take the club forward, however, the former Manchester City boss has managed to turn things around and has done a solid job.

If Gold and Sullivan look to replace Pellegrini in the summer with Genesio, it may only further anger the stance the fans have towards them, whilst it would also have to be deemed an unnecessary change and an extremely risky piece of business - even if they do find it as the next part of their ambitious aims.

West Ham fans, what do you make of the possibility that Gold and Sullivan could look to replace Pellegrini in the summer? Would you be for it or against it? Join in with the discussion below by sharing your thoughts with us.
