West Ham’s Yarmolenko deal should unleash £13.5m-rated prolific attacker next season

The West Ham United fans in the Transfer Tavern are hoping their club can conclude a deal for Andriy Yarmolenko in the coming days as Manuel Pellegrini begins to step up his revolution at the London Stadium.

The Breakdown

With the signings of Issa Diop, Lukasz Fabianski and Ryan Fredericks already concluded, West Ham look set to welcome a further 3 new players to the London Stadium this week. According to a recent report from The Times, the Hammers are closing in on Jack Wilshere, Fabian Balbuena and Andriy Yarmolenko.

The latter will sign from Borussia Dortmund in a deal worth £17.5 million – a fee which could eventually prove to represent a snip of his true value.

Wherever the Ukraine international has gone in his career he has been a resounding success; 99 goals and 65 assists from 227 appearances in the Ukraine Premier Liga along with 5 goals and 6 assists from 30 Champions League appearances tells you all you need to know about the inbound star.

His record with injury is a notable concern and that factor has considerably driven his price down, but if he can remain fit for the Hammers then the fans will certainly be in for a treat next season.

Not only should the supporters be delighted by Yarmolenko’s arrival, but Javier Hernandez (valued at £13.5 million by Transfermarkt) is a player who will be particularly pleased by the transfer as he bids to demonstrate a considerable improvement on his debut season for the club.

Chicharito’s opening campaign for West Ham was rather modest considering his prolific record at both club and international level, but his final tally of 8 goals was enough to suggest that he can double his tally next season with the right players around him.

With Yarmolenko consistently hugging the touchline, taking on his opposite number and attempting to create opportunities in the final-third, Hernandez should be able to find more space in the penalty area and therefore plenty more goal-scoring opportunities.

Every great striker needs players around him who are capable of dragging defenders out of position through a combination of direct dribbling and quick-witted passing, and the arrival of Yarmolenko will certainly provide Hernandez with a player who will try to do exactly that at every available opportunity.

With Hernandez at the spearhead of West Ham’s attack and Yarmolenko and Arnautovic playing either side of him, the supporters are set to feast their eyes upon a mouthwatering attacking trio next season who should compliment one another to devastating effect.
