‘What a joke’, ‘Wenger out’ – Arsenal fans react angrily to official club announcement

Arsenal fans here in the Tavern are hoping to carry their Europa League momentum into the Premier League, as a top-four spot is still the main aim for the Gunners.

Indeed, missing out on a Champions League place for the second successive season is unthinkable for Arsenal fans, but at present, that still looks likely to be the case come May.

A plethora of complaints have been fired the way of the Arsenal brass in light of the Gunners’ recent lack of success – with a lack of financial investment perhaps the most significant example.

Though a couple of big players moved to the Emirates in January, in the form of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Arsenal’s failure to keep up with the likes of Man City and Man Utd in the Premier League has left fans feeling frustrated.

What makes this all the more disappointing for the fans is the huge amount of money that is currently being made off the field by the club. For example, Arsenal announced earlier today that they had signed a club-record extension to their sponsorship agreement with Emirates.

That’s all well and good, but unsurprisingly, it has generated a lot of resentment amongst fans over on Twitter. Indeed, whilst the club might be making money, it doesn’t appear as though many are expecting it to be reinvested back into the club. Fans are instead demanding change at Arsenal, with calls for Wenger to lose his job and the board to invest more money frequently being said throughout the responses over on Twitter.

Here’s a look at exactly the sort of reaction being given off by supporters on social media…
