The Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern are drinking in celebration over the capture of their new man.
Chelsea have secured the signing of Monaco midfielder, Tiemoue Bakayoko.
The player who has been described by our landlord as the next Yaya Toure has already arrived at Chelsea’s training ground and will be getting to know his new team mates ahead of the new season.
Normally this is the point where our landlord would criticise the new signing, saying the club are either overpaying or getting the wrong player.
But not this time, Bakayoko will be a fantastic signing.
He has power, fantastic vision along with an eye for goal that could do with a bit of work but it’s still there.
He’s also quick and can make plenty of interceptions, although with his new midfield partner, N’Golo Kante he probably won’t need to do much of that.
With all these strengths in his game, it is easy to see where the comparisons to City superstar, Yaya Toure come from.
Given the number of clubs after his signature, Monaco could have asked for a lot more than £40 million and our landlord respects the fact they didn’t.
It is a win, win for everyone.
Bakayoko gets a bigger move to a bigger team, Monaco get a lot of money they can reinvest into their squad and Antonio Conte finally gets one of his main transfer targets after missing out on a few players already.
Bakayoko has got the potential to become one of the best midfielders in Europe, watch this space.
A great piece of business by Chelsea.
