Footybunker.com reports that Tottenham are thought to be close to securing a season long loan deal for Real Madrid star Lassana Diarra. Down the pecking order at the Bernabeu, Diarra would surely view the potential move as one of promise.
Harry Redknapp is a big fan of the Frenchman. He signed him for £5.5m from Arsenal in 2008 and allowed the player to flourish into one of the best defensive midfielders in the world.
With Real Madrid boss Jose Mourinho favouring the defensive midfield partnership of Xabi Alonso and Sami Khedira, Diarra has found himself on the sidelines more often than not this season.
With only 19 league starts last season, Diarra could well see his days numbered and a move back to the Premiership could be his best option.
Having already played for Chelsea and Arsenal, Spurs would be Diarra’s third London club in 7 years and would join French team mate and Spurs defender William Gallas in this feat.
A move back to either Arsenal or Chelsea had been suggested this summer, especially when Chelsea midfielder Michael Essien suffered a serious injury. However, with no bids forthcoming, Redknapp looks set to land his man.
