What does the future hold for Callum Hudson-Odoi?

Chelsea have had an excellent start to life under Maurizio Sarri, however, one man may have been hoping to have had an opportunity to impress the Italian.

The former Napoli manager arrived at Stamford Bridge late into the summer, but that does not appear to have affected how the season has gone for the Blues so far.

Chelsea currently remain unbeaten under Sarri across all competitions, putting in a mixture of impressive and scrappy performances in order to pick up the results needed.

The Italian has looked to change his squad at times for certain matches, with the likes of Ross Barkley becoming a key figure and Ruben Loftus-Cheek starting to benefit a little more, however, one exciting English talent is yet to get his chance.

Callum Hudson-Odoi is an academy player that has got Chelsea fans really excited over the last couple of years, as he has been putting in a number of impressive performances in the developmental leagues.

Many have called for him to get his chance in the side, especially in the Europa League and domestic cups, as he is a pacy and raw talent that will surely only get better with game-time.

However, it does not appear that Sarri is ready to give him those needed minutes to help further develop his game.

According to WhoScored.com, Hudson-Odoi has made just two substitute appearances in Europe so far, combining for a total of 36 minutes, including five minutes as they sealed their place in the next stage of the Europa League against BATE Borisov.

However, that could be Sarri’s perfect chance to give the 18-year-old the perfect opportunity to play senior football, with the pressure off of them when they meet both PAOK and Vidi.

Should he get a chance to impress in either of those two games, then January could become interesting for his future.

There is no doubt that he is highly-rated at Stamford Bridge, and he will not be sold, however, he could be offered the chance to head out on loan to play regular football with clubs rumoured to have an interest.

Or, if he puts in impressive performances, he could look to make a real push and give Sarri a difficult decision about whether to include him in his Premier League side for a possible title run in.
