Manchester City managed to put in another dominant performance against Bournemouth last weekend as Raheem Sterling, Bernardo Silva and Ilkay Gundogan got on the scoresheet.
The Citizens are the team to beat in the current campaign as they currently hold a lead over Liverpool at the top of the Premier League table. Although, with a trip to Chelsea coming up this weekend, the Citizens will need to be at their best to avoid slipping up for the very first time domestically.
It appears as if Sheikh Mansour already has one eye on the January transfer window as Manchester City are reportedly closing in on a deal for Columbus Crew goalkeeper, Zack Steffen. The supposed deal wouldn’t actually go through until January 1st when the window officially opens, but City are already making plans.
Of course, with veteran goalkeeper Claudio Bravo currently spending time out on the sidelines after rupturing the Achilles’ tendon in his right foot back in August, it makes sense for the Citizens to bring in another shot-stopper.
However, with the South American already edging closer towards the end of his footballing career at the age of 35, he could be forced into retirement if Man City secure the services of Steffen in January as it’s unlikely that he will want to seek a move elsewhere with his family already settled in England.
The Chilean has had a very successful career, winning the Premier League, Champions League, La Liga, UEFA Super Cup, FIFA Club World Cup, EFL Cup and the Copa America, so there’s nothing really left for him to achieve.
Coming back from an Achilles related injury can be very difficult for some players due to the amount of time they spend out on the sidelines and the rehabilitation process, so retirement may well be a good option for Bravo as he will be the third-choice goalkeeper at Manchester City if they secure a deal for Steffen.
