Arsenal have had a habit of producing some top quality talents over the years and Arsene Wenger certainly looked to make the most of them during his time with the club.
Unai Emery appears to have taken a liking to some of the Gunners’ most recent up and coming academy graduates as well as he looks to make his own mark on the legacy of the Emirates Stadium outfit.
One man that showed glimpses of promise when handed an opportunity was Emile Smith-Rowe during the first half of the season.
The manager has not hidden from the fact that he expects the young attacker to have a bright future in the game and was not scared of throwing him into the mix when he felt the time was right.
The teenager was handed minutes in the Europa League as well as the domestic cup competitions and netted three times in six appearances.
He was sent to Red Bull Leipzig in January to get some more experience and play at a high standard regularly, however, things did not quite go to plan as everybody had hoped.
Smith-Rowe had suffered a couple of injuries during his short stint with the Bundesliga side and saw his chances severely limited, having made two appearances for a grand total of two minutes… yeah, seriously (Transfermarkt).
However, that does not appear to have put off the German outfit, as Football.London state that Ralph Rangnick (the RB Leipzig boss) has confirmed that he would like to bring the 18-year-old back to the club next season and have already told Arsenal.
And, another loan spell could be exactly what the English attacking-midfielder needs to potentially become a future star for the Gunners and Emery.
Reiss Nelson appears to have taken well to the challenge in the Bundesliga, whilst the likes of Jadon Sancho have been making a name for themselves in the country with how well their football has been developing.
Red Bull Leipzig could also be the perfect club for a fully-fit Smith-Rowe to thrive at and develop further as well as the outfit is one that will challenge for honours domestically and abroad, which will help the teenager to up his game and be ready for the physical demands that would be expected of him at the Emirates Stadium.
It may have been disappointing how his current loan spell has turned out, however, Arsenal would surely benefit from handing him a full season in Germany and could potentially reap the rewards a little further down the line.
