What does the future hold for Georges-Kevin N’Koudou?

For a lot of Tottenham fans, the fact that their French winger Georges-Kevin N’Koudou has only managed 27 minutes this season doesn’t bother them at all. The Lilywhites have come to term with the fact that the ex-Marseille man is not in Mauricio Pochettino’s plans, and the 23-year-old must force a move out of Hotspur Way if he wants to revive his stalled career.

After signing for the club back in summer 2016, the Frenchman has really failed to assert himself at the club. He may still be in the first-team picture at Spurs and train with the senior squad, but that doesn’t mean he’s going to be getting any sort of break and the fact that he’s not in the Champions League squad and is yet to even appear on the bench in the Premier League means he could well be the next Vincent Janssen, or so to speak.

In the winger’s full season at Marseille, before he switched Ligue 1 for the Premier league, N’Koudou was a huge hit, scoring five and assisting three goals in his 28 games. Now, though, the 23-year-old has stagnated and looks like he will have to make a return to his native France if he wants to make anything of his career after throwing away his last two years rotting on the bench with the Spurs youngsters and fringe men.

To say that he’s been making sporadic appearances would even be a step too far. Last season saw Pochettino allow the winger to move to Burnley on-loan in January, but even then Sean Dyche failed to get much out of the Frenchman as he managed just eight games for the Clarets. It seems the Premier League just isn’t the one for N’Koudou and when the transfer window opens, the Frenchman simply has to get his move away.

He wasn’t the first man to come from France and fail at White Hart Lane. Ettiene Capoue, Clinton N’Jie and Benjamin Stambouli were all brought in from France with high hopes before flopping and moving on, so it seems strange considering that after Pochettino saw those three off, he decided to take a chance on N’Koudou. Now, though, after failing with his own French import, it looks like he’ll be keen to sell the winger on and learn from his mistake.
