James Shan has done a respectable job at the Hawthorns since becoming caretaker manager but it remains to be seen as to whether he’ll receive the permanent job.
Sadly, the Baggies’ promotion push took another hit last time out at Ashton Gate last time out as Bristol City put in a dominant performance which helped them secure a 3-2 win.
Of course, automatic promotion to the Premier League was always going to be a long shot, so the Baggies will now need to turn their attention towards the play-offs instead.
However, one of the club’s current stars is attracting interest, as according to TEAMtalk, Newcastle United are interested in a summer move for Jake Livermore.
The Englishman scored the winning goal against Birmingham City in the Championship recently and he’s been solid in the middle of midfield for large parts, so losing him in the summer would come as a big blow.
However, the ideal situation for the Baggies would be to receive a healthy fee for Livermore if he did end up leaving, as it would allow them to go out and strengthen in other areas.
He’s been impressive but he’s not irreplaceable.
Indeed, adopting a more youthful approach could definitely benefit the Baggies in the future and Rekeem Harper has already shown that he has what it takes to become a regular at the Hawthorns. He’d be the perfect replacement for Livermore as he can pick a pass, he’s strong in the tackle and he offers an attacking threat.
Also, with the likes of James Morrison and Chris Brunt either side of him, he could learn an awful lot from the experienced pair which would help his development massively.
