Jarrod Bowen is having a stunning season with Hull City in the Championship, prompting interest from the Premier League.
And one of the outfits who are said to be keen are Southampton with The Sun (via HITC) reporting earlier this month that the south coast club are plotting a summer bid for the 22-year-old.
Looking at the Saints’ squad, it is not hard to see why Ralph Hasenhuttl would be interested in bringing Bowen to St. Mary’s.
While Ryan Bertrand and Yan Valery have compensated a bit from the wing-back positions, out wide, things are not great for Southampton.
Mohamed Elyounoussi has really struggled since arriving from Basel last summer, and Nathan Redmond has only just started to find the back of the net again.
With that in mind, Bowen could be the perfect addition to this Southampton squad when it comes to trying to improve things in those positions.
The way he can get past players thanks to his immense close control before getting a shot away with that dangerous left foot of his is exactly what Hasenhuttl needs right now.
In a season where he has managed to score over 20 goals at his young age, it is not surprising to see teams such as Mauricio Pochettino’s Tottenham also keep tabs on him (Sky Sports).
Indeed, after missing out on James Maddison (Sky Sports), whose transition from the Championship to the Premier League has been seamless, the Saints will surely do everything they can this time round to land an exciting talent like Bowen, who could follow in the Leicester man’s footsteps.
