What does the future hold for Jordi Alba at Barcelona?

What does the future hold for Jordi Alba at Barcelona?

Manchester City managed to put in a dominant performance against Wolverhampton Wanderers last time out as they secured all three points at the Etihad.

The Citizens have been nothing short of sensational in recent times as they continue to impress after their small lapse in concentration, with Liverpool and the title still firmly in their sights.

However, with the January transfer window now well underway, the Manchester club will need to bring in at least one player to sure things up. Indeed, Pep Guardiola is currently short on quality at left-back, as Benjamin Mendy is suffering from an injury and Oleksandr Zinchenko is also out injured.

Interestingly, Barcelona’s Jordi Alba is unsure on his future with no contract renewal coming at this point.

Indeed, the Spaniard wants to resign with the European giants and that could still become reality, but at this moment in time, things are far from certain as it is being left down the club to make a decision.

Alba’s uncertainty around his future has provided Manchester City with the perfect opportunity to swoop in for his services, as it would force Barcelona into making a decision if they were to present them with an offer, as they’re clearly unsure on whether they want to renew his contract at this stage.

Sadly, the one position that is currently stopping the Citizens in their tracks is at left-back, as Danilo just hasn’t been able to hit the ground running and Aymeric Laporte has had to fill in at times. Mendy played a huge part in City’s title-winning season last time out on the left flank, with his absence in the current campaign causing them to go downhill slightly.

Guardiola already has arguably the strongest squad and starting lineup in the Premier League, and maybe even in the world, but their current left-back crisis needs to be sorted in order for them to seek domination.

Therefore, the Manchester club will easily brush Liverpool aside in the race for the Premier League title if they secure their missing title ingredient, which in this case is Jordi Alba.

The 29-year-old’s pace and darting runs down the left-hand side would cause all sorts of problems, as well as aiding Leroy Sane in the final third. And, he isn’t half bad at defending either, having established himself as one of the world’s best full-backs, so he could definitely take City that extra mile this season.
