Tottenham are a tough team to break into at the moment, particularly if you are an attacker.
The Lilywhites boast some of the most impressive names in England when it comes to attacking midfielders and forwards. That is why it made sense for forward Josh Onomah to make a move away on loan this summer to Sheffield Wednesday. The 21-year-old was never going to break into the first team this season, so this move made sense.
However, the problem for the England under-21 international is that he has not impressed this season with The Owls. He has done nothing so far to warrant a return to Tottenham, and this should be a worry to him.
Although he was impressive for Aston Villa last season on loan, as they came agonisingly close to earning promotion back to the Premier League, he has struggled to help a Sheffield Wednesday team that are not doing well. The Owls are currently 18th in the Championship and are coming under a lot of criticism with their performances. Manager Jos Luhukay clearly does not trust Onomah to help his team out.
That is the problem that Tottenham are facing. They would not want Onomah to return to their club, as it is very unlikely that he would feature for them at all. However, he’s not doing much better at Sheffield Wednesday this season.
Ideally, Tottenham would be able to loan him out to another team, perhaps in the Championship, in the hope of more regular game time. If they fail to do this, Onomah is never going to get the chance to prove that he is worthy of playing for Tottenham.Like what the TT have on offer? Sign up for more notifications!
