Celtic will be desperate to get their Scottish Premiership campaign back on track as they currently find themselves trailing in the race for the title.
The Hoops are into the knockout stages of the Europa League after a nervy performance against Red Bull Salzburg, but things were far from perfect as a mistake cost them the game.
However, with the January transfer window almost upon us, Brendan Rodgers may be looking to bring in some reinforcements to help his side’s quest for another treble.
Sadly, Celtic’s problem position has been at right-back this season as Mikael Lustig continues to disappoint, with mistakes being ever-present in his game. The 32-year-old was slammed for his performance in the first game against Salzburg and has made a number of mistakes since, so it’s safe to say that fans are desperate to see the back of him.
Brendan Rodgers hasn’t been blessed with a huge amount of options at right-back in the current campaign, which has forced him to deploy Lustig at right-back for large parts. But, having witnessed his recent performances in the side, it’s clear to see that a replacement is required in January.
One player who could be available in the January transfer window is Tottenham Hotspur’s Kyle Walker-Peters, who recently signed a new deal at the club.
Mauricio Pochettino already has the likes of Kieran Tripper and Serge Aurier at his disposal, so the full-back is surplus to requirements at this moment in time. The Argentine boss has stated that Walker-Peters will not be departing on loan, but this is hard to believe as the Englishman has only featured three times this season.
So, Celtic should chance their luck by launching a loan move for the 21-year-old as he already has experience in Europe and in the Premier League, with his pace, skill and defensive solidity helping the Hoops finally solve their problem position at right-back.
