In front of goal, it is some Premier League season Luka Milivojevic is having at Crystal Palace for a midfielder.
Albeit most of his strikes have come from the penalty spot, the 28-year-old has still managed to find the back of the net on 12 occasions during a campaign where he has performed well overall. So well, that a European giant are now said to be interested in his services.
According to Calciomercato (via HITC), AC Milan are monitoring Milivojevic in a development that makes a lot of sense.
With no certainties that Chelsea loanee Tiemoue Bakayoko will remain at the San Siro and Franck Kessie continuing to be linked with a move away (Goal), the Serie A outfit may need to dip into the market for a new midfielder in the summer.
And looking at Milivojevic’s skill set compared to the above names, the Serbian could be a perfect replacement for either.
Perhaps not as dynamic as the two box-to-box midfielders, Milivojevic is still a player capable of sitting in midfield and breaking up play in the middle of the park like the AC Milian duo.
In short, he is a real powerhouse of a footballer when it comes to playing in that engine room and one AC Milan might be able to get on the cheap.
The midfielder is valued at £18 million (by Transfermarkt).
With his contract set to expire next summer, Crystal Palace could be forced to cash in now at a cut-price fee if the Serbia international decides against putting pen to paper on a new deal.
And with AC Milan now seemingly sniffing around, it would not be a surprise to see Milivojevic do just that.
At 28, the Crystal Palace captain knows he will not get too many other opportunities in the future to play for an elite European outfit like the seven-time Champions League winners.
