Frank Lampard has turned Derby into one of the better teams in the league and as it stands, his side are well placed in the playoffs thanks to the help of one of Chelsea’s youth stars.
Lampard has been surprisingly good in his first managerial job. The east Midlands side been solid at the back and also has some incredibly talented players going forward.
Jack Marriott looks to have fit into the club incredibly well and has made the jump from League One to Championship look quite easy. Loan players Fikayo Tomori and Harry Wilson have been outstanding with the latter arguably the club’s best player at the moment. One player who should also be mentioned is Chelsea loan star, Mason Mount who has been so good this season that he was called into the England national team squad by Gareth Southgate.
Sent away on loan to gain experience by Maurizio Sarri, Mount is proving himself to be a superb acquisition by Lampard. The midfielder has played 20 games for Derby this season and seems to be thriving in the highly competitive and fast-paced league.
Like most Chelsea youth players, Mount has struggled to break into the first-team at the west London club and as of yet, has not made his competitive debut for the club. Instead, he has been a star of the club’s youth team and was brilliant for Vitesse Arnhem last season where he scored eight goals while also creating a further nine in 29 games. He’s taken that form to Debry where he has excelled although he is currently suffering a slight dip in form.
At 19, he has proven that he is not only ready to play regular first-team football but also that he is good enough to play for Chelsea. Come the end of his loan spell, the talented midfielder needs to be assured that he’ll play and if Sarri can’t do that, he should look to make the move away from the club.Like what the TT have on offer?
