What does the future hold for Mauricio Pochettino?

It’s been a fairly tough season for Spurs this year as despite having one of their best starts to a Premier League season, Tottenham have struggled to keep up with the leading pack and have been terrible in Europe.

Last season Spurs finished with the added excitement that they’d be playing in a new stadium this year. Unfortunately for the fans, the stadium has been constantly pushed back and its constant delay has been representative of a stop-start season for the club.

On one hand, they’ve managed to beat Man U in what was a superb performance but on the other, they’ve slipped up against Inter Milan and PSV Eindhoven and could well slip into the Europa League.

Amid the issues with the stadium, a lack of summer signings and their struggles in Europe, it had been reported that Mauricio Pochettino was being lined up for a move to Real Madrid. It’s no surprise that the Argentine was linked with a move to the club following what he’s done in north London.

Under Pochettino, Tottenham have turned into a side that plays dynamic football and is often looking to promote young English players. Moreover, with the likes of Dele Alli, Christian Eriksen and Harry Kane, Pochettino has players that at their best can compete with Man City, Chelsea and Liverpool. There again, while all three are superb, the biggest commodity at the club is the manager.

He remains one of the best young coaches in the world and unfortunately for Spurs fans, he seems destined to manage one of the biggest clubs in the world.

For the time being, it seems as though the former Southampton boss is happy in north London as he recently rejected any rumour of him leaving for Real Madrid. With such a tough season ahead, that news will come as a huge boost for the fans, however, it should still be viewed cautiously.

If Spurs don’t give Pochettino adequate reinforcements in January or the summer, the allure of a big job may just be too great.
