Crystal Palace appear to have finally fixed one of the biggest problems in their squad thanks to the recent January transfer window.
The south London club had struggled for goals with first-choice striker Christian Benteke missing a chunk of the season due to injury, while prior to that the Belgian was failing to provide much of a threat up front.
Since then, however, Michy Batshuayi has arrived on loan from Chelsea until the end of the campaign in a hugely positive development for Roy Hodgson.
To put things simply, Batshuayi is doing what his compatriot was not: scoring goals. The 25-year-old has already scored twice for his new side with his latest strike, a well-taken finish, recently coming against Burnley.
After a disappointing time at Chelsea, Batshuayi now looks at home at Crystal Palace, and the Eagles have to capitalise on that by making his loan deal permanent.
During his time in west London, Batshuayi was often told by influential figures at the club such as World Cup Cesc Fabregas that he needed to improve (Sky Sports), which was difficult given the lack of minutes and attention he got.
However, at Selhurst Park, that should not be a problem with a coach like Hodgson already showing a lot of faith in the Belgium international while having the necessary experience to help him fine-tune his game.
With that in mind, Batshuayi and Crystal Palace look like a match made in heaven. The Eagles have given him the platform to express himself, while his goal-poaching instincts and overall finishing are exactly what Hodgson’s side need.
