Wolverhampton Wanderers have been a mixed bag in recent times as they’ve struggled to grind out positive results on a regular basis.
The Midlands club will need to make a number of changes if they are to secure a European spot in the current campaign, with plenty to improve on.
One thing that Nuno Espirito Santo desperately needs to look at is bringing in a striker in the January transfer window as his side have been far from clinical in the final third.
Raul Jimenez has established himself as one of the standout performers since joining on loan from Portuguese giants Benfica, but a consistent flow of goals has been missing. He currently has five goals and five assists to his name, which is far from enough as the club’s main striker.
Interestingly, the Midlands club have the option to make his loan deal a permanent one if Fosun decide to go ahead and pay over £30 million for his services, which would smash their current club record.
Indeed, paying over £30 million for a striker that struggles to ensure a consistent flow of goals is brave business as he hasn’t been able to help their current situation. And, with there no doubt being plenty of prolific forwards available for a smaller fee, they should be looking elsewhere for their No. 9.
Adama Traore hasn’t been able to impress or have much of an impact since joining for was a club-record fee back in the summer transfer window, so they won’t want to risk making a similar mistake.
Of course, signing a striker will be vital at this point in their season as their European hopes depend on it, so Fosun should invest their money elsewhere in January, rather than waiting until the summer.
