What does the future hold for Roberto Firmino?

It would take blind bias for any Liverpool fans to claim that Roberto Firmino has been good this season. The Brazilian striker has been so off the pace on Merseyside it’s ridiculous, and with his form suffering, we’ve taken a look at just what the Brazilian should be looking to do if he wants to get back to his top level, even if that does mean forcing an Anfield exit.

Firmino was again a shadow of his former self when he stepped out onto the pitch against Napoli on Tuesday night and it was no surprise to see Jurgen Klopp hook the 27-year-old with just over ten minutes to go. Firmino has got himself a serious issue at the moment as his confidence looks to be on the floor, either way, though, his goal return of just six goals in 23 appearances this season just isn’t good enough for a player of his calibre.

That’s why the Brazilian should probably be assessing his options at the moment. Jurgen Klopp has changed the system that the Kopites used from last season and it has hindered Firmino massively. However, if he was to take a look at another Brazilian who used to thrive at Anfield and copy the route that Philippe Coutinho took, leaving Merseyside for better things in Barcelona, where he’s already been crowned a La Liga champion.

Barcelona’s isn’t necessarily the place that Firmino should look to switch, but if he was to move to a more technical league like La Liga the way he plays would make him a sublime fit. The way the Brazilian plays is with a touch of class, his fancy first touch touches, flawless vision and ability to find the net and register assists would make him an unstoppable player if was to make the switch, and whilst Liverpool fans won’t want to see their striker leave, it could be for the best.

The money that the Reds would generate from Firmino could also be put to good use. After Coutinho left, the money they recouped from the Brazilian was enough to fund both the Virgil van Dijk and Alisson Becker deals, and if Firmino can be sold and the money used to bring ing even just one player as influential as that Anfield pair then the Kopites would be winning by allowing him to leave the club.
