Arsenal will have their sights set on securing a Champions League place in the current campaign, having had to settle for Europa League football in recent times.
It’s believed that Arsenal ‘presented their offer’ to the Spanish director of football after the Premier League club decided they would pay the £2 million needed to activate the buy-out clause in his Roma contract. And, the Italian website indicate that he has agreed to the terms and will leave Italy before the end of the season.
So, with Monchi seemingly heading for the Emirates Stadium, perhaps he can help Arsenal make a number of big-name signings in the summer transfer window.
Interestingly, the North London club are reportedly (as per Tuttosport, via Sport Witness) in the race to sign Lyon’s Tanguy Ndombele, who has established himself as one of Europe’s most exciting midfielders this season.
Indeed, it’s safe to say that Monchi would become an instant hero at the Emirates if he managed to seal a deal for the Frenchman as he has all the ingredients to become a future star. And, he’s attracting attention (as per Tuttosport, via Sport Witness) from the likes of Barcelona, Tottenham Hotspur, Juventus and Paris Saint-Germain, so the Gunners could make a huge statement by pipping some of Europe’s elite to the signing.
A midfield pairing that consists of Ndombele and Lucas Torreira would be almost unstoppable, as both men excel at making tackles and intercepting in the middle of the park.
