What does the future hold for Victor Wanyama at Spurs?

West Ham United will be gutted to have let their lead slip last time out against Crystal Palace, as a European place now looks extremely unlikely.

The Hammers have definitely improved since losing two-straight Premier League games against Wolves and Bournemouth, as they’ve gone unbeaten in their last two league games.

But, one thing that has been worrying supporters in recent times is Declan Rice’s future, as according to the Express, Tottenham Hotspur are planning a £35 million raid to snatch Rice in the summer.

Indeed, with Spurs looking to steal Rice in the summer transfer window, perhaps David Gold and David Sullivan should look to make the most out of the situation. The Republic of Ireland international will inevitably leave at some point as he deserves to be playing at the highest level after an inspired season so far.

So, the Hammers should set their sights on getting Spurs to include a player in a potential deal for Rice, with Victor Wanyama possibly being of interest to Manuel Pellegrini.

The Kenyan international has struggled to secure regular minutes in recent times in North London, which can be put down to injury and falling out of Mauricio Pochettino’s plans, so a summer move wouldn’t exactly be unrealistic.

Wanyama (who was touted as an Irons target by Football Insider back in October) can offer everything that the Hammers are crying out for in the middle of midfield, as an enforcer who loves the knock the opposition off the ball. But, that isn’t his only strength as his passing and shooting ability makes him a dangerous asset in the final third, as well as being able to have a huge impact in defensive areas with his tackling and ability to intercept, so he’s very similar to Rice in many ways.

Many fans would want to see the youngster remain at the London Stadium no matter what, but Gold and Sullivan simply must pack Rice’s bags if Spurs involve Wanyama in a potential deal as he would be the perfect replacement and they’d inevitably receive a sum of cash on the side as well, so West Ham would get the best of both worlds.
