West Ham United will set their sights set on securing a European spot in the current campaign, but improvements are needed if this is to happen.
The Hammers have struggled to ensure consistency in recent times, which has highlighted their need to splash out in the January transfer window.
Indeed, one area that requires improvement in the starting XI is the middle of midfield, as Declan Rice has had to carry the main load by himself at times this season.
Interestingly, a midfield addition may not be at the top of Manuel Pellegrini’s list, but it would certainly help their cause in the current Premier League campaign.
Victor Wanyama has struggled to work his way into Mauricio Pochettino’s plans this season, which has put his immediate future under the spotlight. Interestingly, it’s understood that Spurs are open to offers for the Kenyan international, so David Gold and David Sullivan should think about launching a raid.
Indeed, Rice has all the ingredients to become a future star in the Premier League but Manuel Pellegrini hasn’t been able to settle with a midfield partnership this season.
Therefore, he should look no further than Wanyama as he has the ability to pick a pass and can influence play in the final third, with Rice’s defensive solidity allowing the Kenyan to venture forward and express himself. This could be the difference between securing a European spot this season as Wanyama can provide the perfect balance in attacking and defensive areas.
