Andy Carroll has had a slightly rocky start to life at Kevin Nolan’s house; having been targeted by arsonists last night. Carroll’s brand new Range Rover, purchased recently after he signed a new five year contract with Newcastle, was torched last night on the drive of Kevin Nolan’s home. Nolan’s garage door was also daubed with obscene slogans – unfit for print here (I definitely know exactly what it said, you see).
Carroll had decked his car out with flash gizmos, such as a games console in the back seat, that now lie in cinders. The in-form striker has recently moved into Nolan’s family home in Northumberland following a court order that he is to live with his captain until an appearance in court in January – following an alleged assault on his former girlfriend. Carroll will supposedly plead self-defence at the hearing.
A spokesperson for Northumbria police stated:
“Police received a report from the fire and rescue service of a fire outside an address in Darras Hall. Officers attended and a Range Rover was found to be on fire. The fire was extinguished by the fire and rescue service and no-one was injured. The garage door of the property was also vandalised. Inquiries into the incident are ongoing and police are appealing for anyone with information to contact them.”
Whatever you may think of Carroll – he certainly doesn’t come across as one of football’s few remaining ‘nice guys’ – to launch such an attack at the home of a young family isn’t exactly the best way of expressing your distaste. I wonder where Steven Taylor was last night?
