As this season draws closer and closer to its conclusion the transfer mutterings ahead of next term have already begun in full earnest.
Today’s rumour comes all the way from the sunny skies of Barcelona, with The Mirror reporting that European Champions FC Barcelona want to sign Manchester City’s sometimes left back Aleksandar Kolarov in the summer.
Manchester City boss Roberto Mancini is said to have upset many members of his squad after their Europa Cup defeat at the hands of Sporting Lisbon last week. Instead of returning to England immediately after the match, Mancini forced his squad to remain in Portugal until Saturday and train in the Iberian heat. They then flew directly to Cardiff where they went on to lose to Swansea on Sunday.
It has indeed been a testing week for Roberto Mancini and Manchester City and their form has even reduced some fans to tears. The mood within the camp is said to have deteriorated to such an extent that it is thought that many members of the squad will be sold in the summer.
Kolorov, 25, has only managed to make eight starts in the Premier League this season and it is thought that Barcelona boss Pep Guarliola is a great admirer of the former Lazio man. It is believed that Barcelona are prepared to make an offer in the region of £12million for the left back who joined City two season ago. The full back’s attacking qualities would be a welcomed addition at Barca, although they are not exactly renowned for crossing the ball and in Eric Abidal they have one of the most accomplished defenders around. If Kolorov does indeed swap the blue half of Manchester for Barcelona look to find the Serbian in a familiar position, the bench.
