Why £25m-rated winger is perfect for Tottenham and Mauricio Pochettino

According to the Sun, Tottenham are set to launch a £25m move for Crystal Palace winger Wilfried Zaha…

Whilst, on paper, the move might not excite the Tottenham fans in the Transfer Tavern; in reality, it actually makes a lot of sense.

Firstly, you have to consider what Zaha would bring to the team. A direct, quick, technical midfielder – Zaha would add a sense of urgency and he would become a driving force down the flanks at White Hart Lane. Now, Tottenham have a number of attacking midfielders – from Alli, to Eriksen to Lamela – but none of those players are as direct and as powerful as Zaha.

Sissoko was brought in to perform that sort of role, but as of yet it really hasn’t happened for him, and so in many ways, Zaha could try and take up that mantle.

Also unlike Sissoko, Zaha is just 24-years-old, meaning that Pochettino still has time to help develop and progress the winger – and you only have to look at Pochettino’s track record when it comes to developing still-progressing attackers. The likes of Alli and Kane have both benefitted, and Zaha can be next in line.

£25 million is, certainly, a pretty hefty fee – but when you consider that Tottenham spent £30 million to acquire Sissoko – it begins to look like a bit of a steal. After all, Zaha is a proven Premier League talent, and whilst it didn’t work out for him at Man Utd – he is clearly at a level far higher than what Crystal Palace are at currently.

Sure, Zaha doesn’t carry the star power of some of the other players in Tottenham’s first team, but he lets himself do his talking on the pitch – and if he can continue his fine form at White Hart lane – he will be perfect for Tottenham.
