Why a £20million move for this Arsenal star would be a stunning piece of business for Koeman’s Toffees this summer

Everton have been one of the division’s big spenders this summer and they’re certainly a side that will be a force in the Premier League next season.

The Toffees fans lining the bar here in the Tavern have been surprised to see the progress made by Ronald Koeman so early on in the transfer window and he’s been smashing transfer records as he looks to build a squad capable of competing at the top of the division next season.

But you get the feeling that one area of the pitch that now needs improving more than anywhere else is the striking ranks.

The Toffees have got a seriously strong spine these days but now, they need someone that is going to get the goals. And they’ve been recently linked with Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud, in a potential £20million deal.

Some Everton fans haven’t been at all impressed with this transfer rumour but like some areas of the Gunners support, is Giroud getting an unfair rap?

Well, we think he certainly is. He’s got some fantastic goalscoring figures under his belt and over the past few years, he hasn’t scored less than 16 goals in a single season which we think is pretty good going indeed.

These are the sort of figures that would really help the Toffees out if they’re looking to compete with the top four next season and it’s about time they had a striker that can hit the back of the net week-after-week again.

Granted, Giroud isn’t everyone’s cup of tea but as a team player goes, he’s very good indeed. He can hold up the ball, bring teammates into the game and dispatch strikes himself.

This might be a better transfer than some Everton fans believe.

Toffees fans- what do you reckon? Would a move for Giroud be a good thing? Leave your thoughts in the comments below!
