The Chelsea fans here in the Football Transfer Tavern are raising their glasses to manager Antonio Conte, with the future looking bright thanks to some encouraging reports reaching the bar here.
Reports from the London Evening Standard have claimed that the former Juventus manager is set to sign a new deal at Stamford Bridge after suggestions of a rift between the manager and club.
That will, of course, be a huge boost to the powers that be in west London, however, there is another line in the report which states that Conte is imploring those responsible for landing his targets to get it done as quickly as possible.
It would obviously always be beneficial for a manager to have as much time to work with his players as possible, however, in the context of this summer it could not be more important for Conte.
With top four challengers for the coming season, the Manchester clubs and Arsenal, having already announced summer signings the pressure is on for the rest of the top six to catch up.
With the money that will be thrown around by that top rung of the Premier League this summer it is vital that Conte can build a solid squad, as opposed to just an eleven, that will be able to compete both at home and in the Champions League over the next year-or-so, and one that understands his ever need from a side.
Given that the Blues are back on the European stage, the former Italy boss will have less time to work with his players on the training ground due to the added games and travel.
With that in mind, the negotiators at Stamford Bridge simply must heed Conte’s demands this summer and go out to get their men as quickly as possible.
