Why Liverpool need to invest in this Southampton man if they want strength in depth (Not Van Dijk)

Something that has become rather clear here in the Football Transfer Tavern is the poor form of Liverpool in the Premier League when attacker Sadio Mané is absent.

Their lack of results coincide when the Senegal international is absent, which surely must mean it can’t be a coincidence.

Mané was ruled out for the end of the campaign which has seen a differing string of results for Jurgen Klopp’s men.

The 25-year-old is one of the first-team’s major assets which doesn’t come as a surprise when you notice performances without him in the match-day squad.

Supporters by-the-bar have been discussing potential players who could fill the void when their 13-goal attacker is absent, either through suspension or injury, and they came to the conclusion that an ideal back-up is by raiding Southampton once again.

The Saints have had a frustrating campaign, however, one footballer who has impressed the critics is wide-man Nathan Redmond.

He signed for the south-coast outfit last summer following Norwich City’s relegation to the Championship, his employer prior to the move, and is just one of the several youngsters at St. Mary’s who have a bright future ahead of themselves.

Of course, Liverpool are notorious for going to Southampton and obtaining their players; Adam Lallana, Rickie Lambert, Dejan Lovren and Nathaniel Clyne to name a few – and our landlord thinks Redmond would be an excellent acquisition for the Reds.

By all means our landlord doesn’t think the 23 year-old is capable of replacing Sadio Mané and there is no need to at this point, but Klopp should keep is options open and the youngster is a talented back-up at Anfield.

Liverpool supporters, how much do you think it would cost to bring Nathan Redmond to Merseyside? Would you even have him at the club? Let us hear your thoughts in the comments below!
