Why Manchester United’s potential inability to complete this £52m signing could see them struggle in the Premier League this season

Manchester United have a huge season on the horizon and the pressure is on manager Jose Mourinho to make a better push for the Premier League title next time around.

The Red Devils fans lining the bar here in the pub weren’t best pleased with some of the football they saw last time out and despite their Europa League and Carling Cup success, supporters want to see more emphasis placed on the league in years to come.

Chelsea somewhat coasted to the league title last season and despite Antonio Conte doing great work at the Bridge during his first season in charge, there’s thought amongst the United faithful that with good investment and a strong pre-season, the club will be better placed to press on in the months ahead.

But adding to their squad is something that Mourinho needs to do sooner rather than later as his competition has already started to make some fantastic moves in the transfer window.

And there’s one man we think Mourinho really needs to bring in over the coming months and that’s £52million-rated Real Madrid attacker James Rodriguez.

Whilst United’s rivals City have already started splashing the cash, showing their intent over the coming months, United’s start to the transfer window has been modest at best and apart from the high-profile departure of Zlatan Ibrahimovic, we’ve not heard much in the ways of potential incomings.

Rodriguez would be a fantastic addition to the side and with the way his career has been stalling in Spain over the past few months, he needs the move as much as United do.

They seem to be missing a key player in the middle-of-the-park and have been for some time and this really could be the answer to their problems.

Bringing him in or a player of his calibre could be the difference between the title and another season of finishing outside the top four.

United fans- how good would this addition be? Leave your thoughts in the comments below!
