Manchester City enjoyed another excellent transfer window and once again spent huge sums on a whole host of new talent for manager Pep Guardiola to work his magic with.
The City boss managed to bring in the likes of Kyle Walker, Bernardo Silva, and Benjamin Mendy among others, and he will no doubt be confident of bringing success to the blue half of Manchester this season.
However, here in the Tavern, our landlord has been chatting with the City fans and he thinks that the club could live to regret letting a certain player slip through their grasp. That player? New PSG and France starlet Kylian Mbappe.
The impressive teenager ended up joining PSG on a loan move for the season with a sensational deal worth over £160m agreed for his services come the beginning of next season.
However, Mbappe moving to PSG could represent a big blow to Man City long term. The club have been long renowned as the big spenders in Europe over the last decade, but allowing PSG to usurp them in their pursuit of one of Europe’s top talents could turn the tables somewhat.
Not only this, but missing out on someone who appears to be genuinely world class once again scuppers City’s hopes of landing the European Cup they crave so much.
Next summer will be a big one again for City, with Sergio Aguero bound to once again be in the tabloids over a move away, leaving only Gabriel Jesus as the club’s top name striker.
Allowing Mbappe to slip through their fingers could be a costly blow over the coming seasons unless the club can pick up a top striking talent next summer.
City fans, what do you think? Would you have liked to have seen Mbappe? Let us know your thoughts!
