Why Pep Guardiola simply must bring Joe Hart back to Man City at the end of the season

The Man City fans in the Transfer Tavern have not been happy with Claudio Bravo’s performances this season…

The ex-Barcelona shot-stopper has struggled since he made the move to the Premier League, and it is beginning to make the punters in the Tavern question why Joe Hart was sent away from the club in the first place.

Now, it is well documented that Pep Guardiola highly values goalkeepers that are solid with the ball at their feet. Claudio Bravo made his name at Barcelona as essentially being a sweeper keeper – and he is fantastic in that role.

However, whilst that is important, the primary role of a goalkeeper is to prevent goal scoring opportunities, and Bravo simply isn’t good enough at that. It’s one thing being good with your feet, but if you are conceding too many goals – your team is going to lose.

Man City let in goals and lose games regularly, and often the fault can be placed upon the shoulders of Bravo – and that is simply not good enough.

Joe Hart, on the other hand, has seriously impressed whilst away on loan with Torino. His side are impressing in Italy, and he has become a focal point of their first team. He has had a shaky few years, but he looks to have come on leaps and bounds since his departure – meaning that he will be coming back to the Premier League as a far superior player.

The simple fact is that Man City need to make a change. If it wasn’t clear at the start of the season, it certainly is now. Claudio Bravo is not good enough to be a regular for Man City, and the Citizens desperately need a new figure between the sticks. Joe Hart has been a part of Man City as they side have dominated the Premier League and won trophies – and it is time for him to come home.
