Why Spurs could swap one Scandinavian for another this summer if Eriksen leaves

RB Leipzig sparked huge debate amongst our regulars here at the Transfer Tavern last season, with the controversial conglomerate owned club launching a serious challenge to Bayern Munich for the German title in their first season of Bundesliga football.

Clogging up the bar during their epic conversation, some argued the Germans deserved to fly high (lots of Blue shirts contributing to this opinion), whereas others claimed they had just bought their recent success.

Our landlord stepped in to calm the debate before chairs started flying, and pointed out the number of unheard of talents the club had turned into stars.

The mention of Swedish midfielder Emil Forsberg brought everybody into agreement, with the creative midfielder a marvel at the Red Bull Arena last season.

A respectable 8 goals but a mammoth 19 assists makes the player one of the most dangerous providers in European football, and a move to Spurs should be on the cards if the club loses Christian Eriksen this summer.

There has been some speculation linking the Spurs playmaker with a move to Catalan giants Barcelona, meaning there would need to be a contingency plan in north London should a deal materialise.

Swapping one Scandanavian for another this summer could be an excellent piece of business for Mauricio Pochettino’s men, who despite losing a star man, would acquire another with change to spare.

Tottenham fans at the Tavern hope Eriksen is still around by September, but could deal with his loss if Forsberg was his replacement.
