The Everton fans in the Transfer Tavern tonight have a split reaction to the news that Koeman wants to sign Arsenal’s Theo Walcott.
For lack of a better term, Ronald Koeman has been going crazy in this transfer window with some very high-profile signings having already taken place.
This didn’t anger our landlord so to speak, he just thinks Theo Walcott is ridiculously overrated and hasn’t really deserved his place in the Arsenal squad for the last few seasons now.
Walcott contributed to ten league goals in 28 appearances which just is not up to par for an Arsenal player, who should be trying to win the Premier League title every season.
With the money Everton received from the Lukaku deal, they can surely afford a better, albeit slightly more expensive alternative to Walcott.
If Everton want to push on and improve their league standings and reputation as a club, buying an Arsenal player who is struggling to get into the squad as it is, doesn’t prove that.
He will demand a big wage to make the switch after years of being on the pay roll at Arsenal and our landlord just doesn’t see the point in it all.
Even Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, who wants out of Arsenal according to some reports, would be a better choice than Walcott.
Fortunately for him, Theo Walcott is still riding what he was doing in his younger years and the fact that Wenger shows too much loyalty to certain players.
