Oh dear… Now personally as an Arsenal fan this is a rumour I would like to see fizzle out rather rapidly. According to Transferpress.com the German giants have joined the likes of Roma and Juventus to sign Bacary Sagna, and are set to offer around 18 million euros to get their man… and let’s be honest stranger things have happened.
The French international signed for Arsenal in 2007 for around £10 million from Auxerre and went straight into the side making 40 appearances, also earning himself a place in the premiership’s team of the year in his first season.
To take Sagna out of the back four will be like to build a house with no footings. It will come crumbling down around us. He has been a rock at the back and a rocket going forward. I feel to let him go will be nothing but a negative move, but with the big names knocking on the door it might be too tempting for him to turn down.
Sagna is no spring chicken at 28… well he is, but let be honest, football years are like dog years, and this could be a big opportunity to add some bling to his C.V, which surprisingly has plenty of room on there, as he has only ever tasted success with Auxerre lifting the Coupe de France in 2005.
Since Sags signed for the famous Arsenal, German outfit Bayern have bagged two league titles, three domestic cups and featured in a champion’s league final.
Mirror football also claimed that Bayern’s incoming coach Jupp Heynckes has made it clear Sagna is his number one target and has urged the club to forget about pursuing Chelsea’s Jose Bosingwa.
The wing back’s agent has rubbished talks insisting he is happy at the Emirates.
We shall see… I’m not convinced…
