Chris Samba’s dancing all the way to the bank as Anzhi Makhachkala stump up a whopping £12 million.
Defender Chris Samba could today finally get his wish and be offered a route out of Blackburn to Russia in an astonishing £12 million move. Money bag’s Anzhi Makhachkhala have targeted the Congolese center back to join their revolution, and link up with other fans of ludicrous sums of cash such as Samuel Eto’o.
Samba was touted for a move to a rival Premier League side during the January transfer window after a public outburst against the club, but no move materialised. At that time the Rovers man was valued at around £7 million, but Makhachkala seem to have a different concept of the value of money than most.
The Mirror claims that Premier League strugglers Blackburn are now prepared to let their unsettled star leave, with Anzhi desperate to push a deal through before their own transfer window shuts on Friday. With Samba having quoted that Rovers had “broken promises” and the club themselves having been left short recently with the 27 year old having only appeared once this year, the move seems to suit all parties.
QPR failed to sign the defender in January due to a conflict of interests with Rovers, as both teams currently find themselves engrossed in the Premier League basement battle.
Makhachkala have roared to prominence on the footballing landscape with the 21 year old club enjoying all the riches that come with a billionaire takeover, and recently employed the excellent Guus Hiddink as manager.
His first signing Samba is set to become the most recent star to turn his back on a big league to ply his trade for the Russians, with superstars such as Roberto Carlos and Samuel Eto’o having already made the long trip to northern Europe.
Premier League sides can now only look back at what could have been, as it seems another potential solution to Arsenal’s crippling problems at the back has now gone in search of lucrative riches abroad.
Anzhi Makhachkala Big Transfer moves: Roberto Carlos – free Jucilei – €10 million Mbark Boussoufa – €11 million Balazs Dzsudzsak – €14 million Yuri Zhirkov – €14 million Samuel Eto’o – €25 million
