The Rangers fans in the Transfer Tavern have been reacting to comments from Arsenal legend and pundit, Ian Wright, as he discussed whether or not the Steven Gerrard would be a good fit at Ibrox. The 37-year-old is currently managing Liverpool’s U18 side but has been heavily linked with a move to Glasgow and Ian Wright, whilst speaking on Sky Sports’ The Debate, backed him for the job and claimed it would be “perfect” for him to start his managerial career.

Steven Gerrard has been coaching with Liverpool’s U18s since he hung up his boots in 2016 after a short spell with LA Galaxy. The Liverpool legend has had his name in the papers over the last few weeks as Rangers have been hotting up their pursuit of a manager for next season. The Gers sacked Pedro Caixinha in October and put Graeme Murty in interim charge of the club whilst they began the search for their next gaffer.
Now, with the season almost over in Scotland and Rangers left dejected with nothing to play for, Gerrard’s appointment would provide a lift for the club who could go into pre-season with hopes of success next year. Although another option may be on the table for Gerrard. Jurgen Klopp’s number two, Zeljko Buvac has been given gardening leave by the club and has been rumoured with a Liverpool exit in the summer. If Buvac was to leave, Gerrard would be the club’s ideal replacement as the club’s assistant manager and the fan would have no complaints with him.

Poisoned chalice more like! Got to be one of the worst run football clubs in the country which is a shame because there is so much potential. Can't think of one player who would get in the current Celtic team.

Think it’ll be a shambles of an appointment, the club need someone with experience, preferably someone who knows the Scottish game as well, not another U18’s manager who was a good player, will end up the same way as Neville did with Valencia.

What does he offer Rangers, other than his name? Didn’t stick with the U18s long did he

So out of touch with the Scottish game. I wish Sky would do one and leave our game alone.

No experience.Rangers are still in turmoil,SG would be making a huge https://t.co/gnl3Y49cGa many good players are now 'devalued stock' by thinking they can manage. His stay would be a short one,he needs experience elsewhere #judgement
