Football celebrations have transformed in recent years. They have gone from a show of passion and commitment to something of a fashion statement or a cry for attention.
In recent years players have become renowned for their individualistic celebrations, and it often becomes a key part of their persona on the pitch.
This is none more true than with Man Utd star Paul Pogba, who’s popularity saw a huge increase following his utilisation of the ‘dab’.
What many people here in the Tavern don’t realise however is that it wasn’t Pogba himself that was the first to do it.
That honour goes to NFL star Cam Newton, who used the celebration throughout last year’s NFL season. Take a look at the original below…
Newton retired the celebration as of the end of the last NFL season, and with the new campaign just starting up – he has now debuted a brand new effort – one that Paul Pogba will inevitably steal and attempt to make his own before the turn of the year.
