Southampton have certainly got the right man at the helm as Ralph Hasenhuttl has worked wonders at St Mary’s already, but the summer transfer window could be a whole different story.
Of course, the Saints haven’t always spent big in transfer windows gone by, despite receiving a massive fee for Virgil Van Dijk back in January of last year. Ralph Hasenhuttl will inevitably want to bring in some of his own additions this summer in order to set his side up for a successful season next time around.
However, funds could be an issue if the board choose profit over spending big.
Interestingly, a Southampton fan representing The Saints View has stated that he ‘partially’ thinks the board will back Hasenhuttl this summer. Although, he does go on to say that if the Dutchman asks for £50 million then he believes the board will back him.
Southampton need to spend big if they are to challenge in the top half next season as they currently don’t have enough strength in depth to be able to compete with the teams who finished above them.
