Will this lead Arsenal back to the top of the Premier League?

The Arsenal fans in the Football Transfer Tavern don’t know what to make of this…

Whilst Arsene Wenger’s tenure at the helm of Arsenal has, by all accounts, been a good one for the Arsenal faithful in the Football Transfer Tavern – it has not been without flaws.

The biggest complaint that has arisen over this period has been financing issues, with the Gunners seemingly desperate to pay back the loan on their multi-million-pound investment into the Emirates Stadium.

This has, in turn, led to an inability to sign top quality talent – and Arsenal have slipped down the Premier League table as a result.

However, all is not lost for the Arsenal faithful in the Tavern – and things could be set to change for the North London outfit.

In an interview with Bloomberg, Aliko Dangote, Africa’s richest man – has proclaimed that he wants to buy Arsenal within the next 4 years.

With an estimated net worth of over $10 billion, Dangote has a higher net worth than Arsenal’s current major shareholder Stan Kroenke – meaning a sale could be unavoidable.

Speaking about his plans for the deal, Dangote said: “It’s about buying Arsenal and turning it around. I’ve run a very successful business and I think I can also run a very successful team”.

Crucially, he has revealed that any deal will not be possible for at least 4 years due to the difficult financial climate that he is currently in – but he confirmed that “there’s no doubt” that he will buy Arsenal down the road.

Very interesting…

Everyone in the Tavern is well aware of Arsenal’s riches behind the scenes – but very rarely have the clubs owners invested heavily in the first team.

For years, Arsene Wenger has struggled to invest in his side, and that has in turn lead to a reduction in fortunes in recent years.

The way that Dangote is talking – he wants to do just that. He wants to turn Arsenal from a Premier League giant into a superclub – and he could give the club what all the Gunners in the Tavern have wanted; funding.

Piers Morgan will definitely be happy…

Our landlord thinks that it could be a real period of change for Arsenal, should the African entrepreneur come in.
