With Everton beginning to look a lot more stable under new manager Sam Allardyce, all Toffees fans will be hoping for a better end to the season than beginning, where the club teetered with the relegation zone far too often.
Allardyce is always a fan of bringing in his own players and getting who he wants on board for the run-in, and January will be no different, with many expecting Allardyce to be busy in the coming days as the window draws to a close.
One position which could do with some depth adding to it is central defence, and our landlord here in the Tavern is in agreement with this thought. He’s been discussing that very position this week with a host of Toffees fans, and with Phil Jagielka and Ashley Williams both ageing, the club could well do with some new blood.
One such player who has caught the eye and has been a tremendous asset to Leeds United is central defender Pontus Jansson, who has been in superb form for the Whites since making the move to Elland Road two seasons back.
Jansson is a huge presence at the back, but there is so much more to his game than just winning balls in the air.
Leeds noticeably miss him when he isn’t in the team, and he is a Premier League player in the making for sure.
Strong, pacey for his size, and excellent in the tackle, Jansson could well be a star performer for many a Premier League club, but would surely thrive at Goodison under a manager like Allardyce.
