Winger’s United deal on the verge of collapse?

Many thought Wilfried Zaha’s move to Manchester United was done and dusted here in the Football Transfer Tavern, although Simon Mullock of the Daily Mirror reckons the deal may be on the verge of collapsing.

Crystal Palace have reportedly rejected United’s offer of £10 million – plus add ons – as they look to hold on to the player they believe can win them promotion back to the Premier League.

Palace chairman Steve Parish is understood to have met with United officials on Thursday, and was not impressed with their offer – half of what the original asking price was – for England’s latest debutant.

United are set to walk away from the deal and look to come back for the 20-year-old in the summer, although Arsenal are monitoring the situation closely.

Palace manager Ian Holloway is desperate to hang on to Zaha until the end of the season at least, and some reports even suggested any deal struck would have to include a clause that saw Zaha loaned back to Selhurst Park  for the remainder of the season.
