It has been Leeds United fans who have been making all the noise in the Transfer Tavern this season following their team’s wonderful start to the campaign.
Thomas Christiansen replaced Garry Monk over the summer and has brought a feel-good factor back to the Yorkshire giants, which has seen them win five of their opening eight Championship matches to sit top of the division.
However, they lost 1-0 at Millwall last weekend and there were doubts around how they would respond to that, yet those doubts were emphatically quashed as the Whites edged past Premier League side Burnley in the third round of the Carabao Cup on Tuesday night.
Christiansen’s men were twice pegged back the Clarets to draw 2-2 after both 90 and 120 minutes, but it was the Championship side that held their nerve to win the penalty shootout 5-3, with goalkeeper Andy Lonergan saving from James Tarkowski to seal their passage into the last 16.
And Leeds will travel to 2015/16 Premier League champions Leicester City in the next round following Wednesday’s draw, with the Foxes booking their place in round four after beating Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool 2-0.
And news of a trip to the King Power Stadium stimulated quite a response from Leeds supporters on Twitter, with it fair to say that many are optimistic about their side’s chances in the next round…
4th round we have Leicester away, definitely winnable, great chance of reaching the quarter finals like last year. #lufc
