Football Insider revealed that Nuno Espirito Santo’s side are ahead of both West Bromwich Albion and Fulham, who are also looking to secure his services this month.
The 19-year-old, who is a graduate of the Mariners’ academy setup, has cemented himself into the first-team, making his 50th appearance for the club against Morecambe on Boxing Day (TransferMarkt).
As a centre-back, Pollock is the club’s top scorer with three goals this season with Grimsby hovering just above the League Two relegation zone.
Described as a “student of the game” by former boss Ian Holloway, the young defender is highly rated in Humberside and currently has a one-year extension on his contract until 2022 (via Grimsby Telegraph).
Transfer Tavern Verdict
Wolves are wise to be investing in the future. Having come up against Chelsea last season in the EFL Cup, Pollock will know what it will take to make it in the Premier League.
He appears to be following a similar path to Max Kilman – albeit without the Futsal pedigree. This will be reassuring as there is hope that he will be given the opportunity under the watch of Nuno Espirito Santo.
Time will tell whether Wolves decide to make a move for him during the current window, with the thought of having to replace Raul Jimenez up front still on their minds.
In other news, Wolves receive seismic boost regarding Luis Suarez-like striker as Nuno eyes Raul Jimenez replacement.
